Manifest provides multiple search modes that allow merchants to control how product results are fetched and displayed to customers. Each mode offers a different balance of speed, accuracy, and depth, ensuring the assistant gives the most suitable recommendations based on the store’s needs.
This flexibility makes Manifest’s product discovery experience more optimized and tailored to every merchant’s preference.
Available Search Modes
1. Faster Responses
Delivers product suggestions instantly
Best for fast, real-time responses where speed matters most
Uses Manifest’s default search algorithm
Ideal for stores wanting the quickest recommendation experience
2. Balanced (Default for stores under 20k products)
Offers a mix of speed + accuracy
Uses Manifest’s own algorithm enriched with Shopify search results
Slightly slower but provides better relevance
Good for everyday queries where both speed and precision are important
3. Higher Accuracy
Prioritizes clear, precise, and highly relevant product results
Combines Manifest’s algorithm with advanced Shopify search enhancements
Best for stores where accuracy and quality of recommendations matter more than response time
4. Shopify Search (Restricted – enabled only by Manifest Support)
Uses Shopify’s native search results only
Recommended for stores with large catalogs (20k+ products)
Default mode for stores with more than 20,000 products
Ensures performance and reliability at scale
Automatic Search Mode Selection
Stores with > 20,000 products → Shopify Search is selected by default
Stores with < 20,000 products → Balanced is selected by default
Merchants can manually switch between the other available modes anytime.
How to Set Up Search Mode
Go to the Manifest Dashboard
Click on the Training section
Navigate to the Products tab
Find the Manage Product Search settings
Select any of the three available modes:
Faster Responses
Balanced
Higher Accuracy

Click Save to apply your changes

Yes, merchants can switch between the 3 standard modes anytime through the dashboard.
2) How do I enable Shopify Search mode?
Shopify Search mode can only be enabled by the Manifest Support Team.
Contact support if you want this mode turned on.
3) Will switching search modes affect my existing product recommendations?
Yes. The type of results and ranking may vary based on the selected mode because each mode uses different search logic.
4) What happens if I don’t select a search mode?
A default mode is automatically applied based on product count:
<20k products → Balanced
>20k products → Shopify Search
