AI Model and Personality

The AI Model and Personality settings allow you to customize how your assistant responds to customer queries. You can select the AI model, define the assistant’s tone and behavior, and provide detailed instructions or guardrails to align responses with your brand.

This section is divided into two parts:

  1. AI Model

  2. Personality

Default Settings

  • AI Model: By default, Manifest Lite will be set.

  • Assistant Personality: By default, Professional tone will be applied.

  • Response Length: By default, the response length will be set to Normal.

  • Describe your brand: By default, the Shopify store description is applied.


1. AI Model

Here you can choose the AI model that will respond to your customers. Each model is designed for different needs and deducts a specific number of credits per response.

  • Manifest LiteBudget-friendly for handling basic, routine inquiries.

    • Credits: 1 per message

  • Manifest ProBalanced performance for reliable, cost-efficient support.

    • Credits: 5 per message

  • Manifest UltraUltimate precision for complex queries and personalized interactions.

    • Credits: 3 per message


2. Personality

Personality settings allow you to define how the assistant should interact with your customers, including tone, style, and response structure.

Assistant’s Personality

How should the assistant reply to your customers?
You can select from four preset tones or create a custom one:

  1. Professional – Formal, respectful, and serious.

    • Prompt: Use concise, clear sentences with a confident, formal tone while maintaining professionalism.

  2. Playful – Casual, enthusiastic, and fun.

    • Prompt: Use lively, energetic language with emojis and creative greetings for a lighthearted experience.

  3. Friendly – Neutral, approachable, and respectful.

    • Prompt: Use warm, conversational language with occasional emojis to make customers feel welcome.

  4. Empathetic – Understanding, supportive, and compassionate.

    • Prompt: Use soothing language that acknowledges customer feelings and reassures them.

  5. Custom – Define your own tone as per your brand needs.


Describe Your Brand

This field highlights your brand’s story, offerings, and uniqueness. By default, the description is auto-fetched from your Shopify store during onboarding.

  • You can edit this description anytime.

  • You can also reset it back to your Shopify description.

  • This field is mandatory.


Response Length

Define how long the assistant’s replies should be:

  • Short – 1–2 sentences, concise and direct.

  • Normal – 3–4 sentences, balanced and recommended.

  • Long – 5–6 sentences, detailed and comprehensive.


Instructions

Provide custom guidance for how the AI should reply. These are rules the AI will always follow.

  • Example: “Use bullet points, avoid jargon, and show empathy in every response.”

  • This helps maintain consistency in responses across your brand.


Guardrails

Set restrictions and boundaries for your AI. You can define:

  • Topics the assistant should not respond to.

  • Guidelines for sensitive or off-limit queries.

Both Instructions and Guardrails are optional, but they are highly recommended.


How to Customise the Model and Personality

  1. Navigate to Customise → Behaviour tab in the Manifest dashboard.

  2. Click on AI Model and Personality.

  3. Select the AI model you want.

  4. Choose or customise the assistant personality.

    • For a custom personality, write a prompt describing how responses should be generated.

  5. Review the Describe your brand section.

    • If needed, modify the description using the input box.

    • You can reset it later to the default store description.

  6. Select a response length: Short, Normal, or Long.

  7. Configure Instructions to guide how AI should reply to user queries.

  8. Define Guardrails to specify how AI should not respond.

  9. Click Save changes to successfully save your settings.

  10. Navigate to the buyer side or use the Testing Playground to check the AI responses.


FAQs

1) Is the brand description mandatory?

Yes. The brand description ensures your assistant correctly represents your business. It can be updated or reset to the Shopify store description anytime.

2) Can I set both instructions and guardrails?

Yes. Instructions guide how the assistant should respond, while guardrails restrict what it should not respond to.

3) Which AI model should I choose?

  • Choose Lite for cost-effective handling of simple queries.

  • Choose Pro for a balanced mix of performance and cost.

  • Choose Ultra if you want highly accurate, personalized answers for complex scenarios.

4) What if I leave Instructions and Guardrails empty?

That’s fine—your assistant will still function. However, adding them is recommended for better alignment with your brand.
