Appearance Customisation

The Appearance tab in the Manifest dashboard allows you to tailor how the Manifest AI assistant appears on your Shopify storefront. You can personalize its welcome message, assistant name, avatar, chat window colors, and entry point settings for both desktop and mobile views.

Customisation Categories

Manifest offers three key areas of appearance customization:

  1. Chat window appearance

  2. Desktop entry point

  3. Mobile entry point


1. Chat Window Appearance

Assistant name

  • The display name of the AI assistant.

  • Default: Manifest Assistant

  • Shown at the top of the chat window.

Welcome note

  • Message shown before the customer starts chatting.

  • Default: Welcome to {your store name}! How can I help you today?

Appearance options

  • Chat Window Color: Choose from preset or custom brand colors.

  • Assistant Avatar: Select from predefined avatars (AI or human) or upload your own (.jpg, .jpeg, or .png formats).

Effects

Enhance the avatar with one of the following visual effects:

  1. None – Plain avatar.

  2. Dot – Static green dot above the avatar.

  3. Blink – Animated blinking green dot.

  4. Ripple – Ripple animation around the avatar.

Stacking priority

  • Controls layering of the widget on the site.

  • Higher values keep it in front; lower values push it behind site elements.

  • Default is set high for visibility, but adjustable if needed.


2. Desktop Entry Point Settings

Customize how the assistant appears on various page types:

Supported pages:

  • Home

  • Search

  • Product

  • Collection

  • Other pages

Available options:

  • Entry point visibility: Toggle assistant visibility per page.

  • Visibility as:

    • Avatar – Only avatar is shown.

    • Ask AI(Product page only) Input bar with conversation starters.

    • AI Floating Bar(Mobile only) Animated floating bar with starters.

Avatar settings:

  • Position: Left or Right

  • Margins:

    • Desktop: Max 600px (left/right), 400px (bottom)

    • Mobile: Max 200px (left/right), 300px (bottom)

  • Size:

    • Desktop: Small (56x56px), Large (72x72px)

    • Mobile: Small (40x40px), Large (56x56px)

  • Show text with widget:

    • Optional label next to avatar (e.g., Chat with AI)

    • Disabled by default

For "Ask AI", only bottom margin and border radius (flat/rounded) are customizable.


3. Mobile Entry Point Settings

You can either:

  • Mirror desktop settings ("Same as Desktop")

  • Customize separately:

    • Entry visibility

    • Visibility mode

    • Avatar settings

    • Show text with widget


Live Preview

  • A live preview is available for both desktop and mobile views.

  • You can preview Chat Window and Entry Point before saving changes.


How to Customise Appearance?

  1. Navigate to the Customise tab in the Manifest dashboard.

  2. Click on Chat Window Appearance.

  3. Set:

    • Assistant Name

    • Welcome Note

    • Color, Avatar, Effects, and Stacking Priority

  4. Go to Desktop Entry Point:

    • Configure visibility and appearance settings per page.

  5. Go to Mobile Entry Point:

    • Choose "Same as Desktop" or "Customise Settings"

  6. Review live preview on the right.

  7. Click Save Changes.

  8. Visit your Shopify storefront to verify the updated assistant appearance.


FAQs

1) Can I upload my own avatar for the assistant?
Yes, you can upload a .jpg, .jpeg, or .png image in the Avatar section.

2) What happens if I don’t set a Welcome Note?
A default message will be displayed: Welcome to {your store name}! How can I help you today?

3) What’s the difference between Avatar, Ask AI, and AI Floating Bar?

  • Avatar: Just the icon.

  • Ask AI: Search-style input on product pages.

  • AI Floating Bar: Available only on mobile, shows a movable floating bar with conversation starters.

4) How do I hide the assistant on specific pages?
Disable Entry Point Visibility for that specific page in the Entry Point settings.

5) Can I use the same appearance for mobile and desktop?
Yes, by selecting "Same as Desktop" under Mobile Entry Point. You can also customise them separately if needed.
