The Data Sources section helps you enrich and fine-tune your Shopping Assistant’s responses by feeding it relevant business content. This includes FAQs, policy documents, product information, links, and custom inputs that may not be available through your Shopify store sync.
Once Shopify sync is enabled, your assistant is automatically trained on your store data — including products, descriptions, and related information. However, to enhance the bot’s accuracy and cover additional topics, you can add more content manually via the Data Sources tab in the Training section on the left panel of the Manifest dashboard.
Types of Data Sources:
1. FAQs
If specific product or policy information is missing from your Shopify data, you can manually add it in the form of FAQs. This ensures the assistant provides accurate responses even when the auto-sync doesn't capture everything. Enable the ‘Question asked is specific to some products’ checkbox and select the relevant products. If the FAQ is linked to a product details intent, adding at least one product is mandatory—otherwise, an error will appear.
2. Custom data files (PDFs)
You can upload PDF files (up to 5MB each) to train your bot. These files can include:
Product catalogs
Company policies
Customer agreements
Brand information
No specific formatting is required for PDFs.
3. Fetched links
Manifest fetches additional pages from your Shopify store like:
Shipping policies
About Us pages
Blogs or articles
These are listed under the Fetched Links section. You can:
Toggle visibility to control what’s used in training
Sync immediately with the Sync store links now option
Adjust auto-sync frequency (Daily, Weekly, Biweekly, Monthly)
Access these via the contextual menu next to the Add Data Source button.
4. Manual links
To add links not automatically fetched, you can use Manual Links. For external links, contact our support team for integration assistance.
5. Text
You can add custom text inputs to train your AI on any additional content that doesn’t belong to other formats.

How to add a data source?
Go to the Data Sources tab in the Manifest Dashboard
Click Add Data Source
Choose the type (FAQ, Text, PDF, Link)
Fill in the required details and assign an intent if needed
For PDFs, upload the file and click Save PDF
Save the changes — your source will now appear in the dashboard
You can edit, delete, or disable any source as required.
